FRIEDMAN DON'T GIVE A FUCK

FUCK YOU HEROES was a good book that cost way too much for these pockets. A glossy hardback of photos, It documented early 80's new music, specifically the Def Jam roster - LL Cool J, the Beastie Boys and Run DMC - and came out on Henry Rollins' publishing imprint, Burning Flags press.

It's Author, Glen Friedman, began his career by snapping skaters for the U.S. magazine SkateBoarder. He's a complete energy freak. His subjects have to exude attitude and energy and he has to get on with them.

"All the people I've Photographed have been my friends, " he says "apart from Method Man, and he didn't show up anyway". Fuck You Too is the low budget version of Fuck You Heroes. "It's the stuff that didn't make it into the first book. I had these left over shots and I wanted to share the pictures with people. Is it just a money-making exercise? At $20 a book I'm not making any money let me tell you."

As the album title suggests Friedman eats his past, not only abusing his subjects but his former profession too. "Things aren't as exciting as they used to be. Most writers these days are full of shit, every fucking wanker has a magazine and the corporations are just using the media to sell their product."

See the exhibition of his work, FUCK YOU ALL (ICA from January 27), before he burns the lot.
