THE FUCK YOU HEROES documentary film

THE FUCK YOU HEROES documentary film I have been working on is finally going to have it’s world premiere! It will be at the IN EDIT film festival in Barcelona. October 30th, 2026 will be the very first screening then it will show again on November 3rd. I expect to give a Q&A after the 1st screening on the 30th.

We will also re-open my BURNING FLAGS exhibition in Barcelona in the same space we occupied in 2022, POTASSI K19 during the film festival

With an examination of his images Glen E. Friedman returns to the subjects of his photography, the pioneering icons of skateboarding, punk and hip-hop, to talk about what motivated them in their lives and why their rebellious art forms continue to influence, inspire and give hope. To share insights and the common ground between the three culturally positive creative mediums.

Produced over twelve years, Friedman and producer Eric Matthies, along with a handful of friends, conducted fifty two filmed conversations between Glen and his colleagues from the skateboarding, hip hop and punk rock cultures. Working with almost four hundred of Glen’s iconic photographs, editor Eric Pritchard and graphic artist Scott Hsuing built a compelling narrative arc, to which which composer Brendan Canty crafted a resonant score. Academy Award winning recording engineer Craig Mann came onboard to bring the mix to life.

The film was produced with the same ethos and values as the art forms explored in the film – by ourselves, of ourselves, for the love of sharing the story.
